The SPIDER approach includes the following core and adaptable elements:
Primary objective:
Safer prescribing for our seniors
Taking 10 or more medications
Reduce medications that may be harmful to them
Improve quality of life
Secondary objectives:
Explore patient experience with SPIDER
Assess the cost-effectiveness of SPIDER
Explore care providers’ experience
The Project will be completed in two phases:
Feasibility phase-3 PBRNs: Toronto, Montreal, Edmonton
Pragmatic RCT phase-5 PBRNs: Ottawa, Calgary, Winnipeg, Montreal and Halifax.
In 2024 the RCT phase is expending to 2 new PBRNs: Vancouver and St John’s
